Frequently Asked Questions

faqIn today’s heavily saturated job market, it is sometimes difficult to get your foot in the door. You can blindly send your resume and cover letter to whom you presume is the Human Resources director, but the probability of receiving a call back is few and far between.

That is where we come in. Many of Houston’s top companies hire recruiting or staffing agencies to assist in their search, so they can remain steadfast on doing business as usual. Below are some commonly asked questions about recruiting firms and how MK Personnel works for you.

Why should I use a recruiting agency?

Day-in and day-out, our job is to maintain relationships with Houston’s top employers to provide our candidates access to highly sought-after positions. We consult with you, learn your unique attributes and help match your skillsets to a firm that will truly relish in your performance. Not only that, but we work with you throughout the hiring process and help prepare you for interviews.

How does MK Personnel work?

The first step is to submit your most updated and polished resume to info@mkpersonnel.com. From here your resume will be sorted and distributed to one of our consultants. At that point the consultant will review your background and experiences and take a look at all of the available opportunities we have at that moment. Once they feel that they have a position that could potentially be a great match, they will ask you to come down to our office for a quick interview with you so that you both.

During the interview they will go into further detail with you about your work experience as well as your search thus far. They will find out what you are looking for in terms of salary, location, work environment, etc.

Now that we have all of the information that we need, when we get jobs that are in line with all of the qualities you are looking for, your consultant will reach out to you and give you a brief overview of the potential position and you can let them know whether or not you are interested in the position. If you are, the consultant will present you to the client.

At that point the candidate will indicate whether or not they would like to move forward with you and your consultant will relay that information to you and continue to guide and advise you throughout the entire interview process.

Do I have to pay MK Personnel for their services?

Not a penny. All payment to MK Personnel is received from the employer after your placement. All of our services are free to candidates. We are here to help you find a career.

What types of candidates does MK Personnel look for?

We look for candidates who fulfill the necessary job requirements of a given position, but will also fit with the firm’s culture and work style. Many of our employer clients provide specific qualities they would like an individual to possess. These can range from being personable to an independent worker who can handle high pressure situations. All of our candidates undergo stringent testing and assessment to match personality profiles and skillsets with a desired position.

What is the best way to get noticed by a recruiter?

Your resume is our first impression of you, so make it count. Our recruiters look for resumes that are easy to follow, list job experiences that match our intended position and show advancement throughout a career. We are active in our search for top talent and we invite you to submit your resume if you feel you can exceed our employer clients’ expectations.

How do I know if I am being considered for a position?

Before presenting you for any potential positions, your consultant will reach out to you and give a summary of the role, including duties, salary, location, etc. At that point you can either agree to be submitted to the client or decline.

By having this open communication with your consultant it ensures that you will always be kept in the loop regarding any potential positions that you have been presented for while also helping your consultant streamline your search by making notes in regards to the positions that you decline.

What types of testing and assessments should I expect?

Understanding your ability and experience with the leading software applications (e.g. Microsoft Access, Excel, PowerPoint and Word) is a necessary prerequisite for our candidates. Although not all positions require proficiency in these areas, most of the companies we work with require some understanding of these applications.  Your consultant will send you a link from Prove-IT, an online skill administrator.  Please refrain from using any shortcuts during the testing—use the traditional way of navigating.  If you have already completed the assessments, please forward your scores or bring a copy of the results to the interview.    If you do not have an opportunity to complete the assessments, come on in anyway and you can complete them at your earliest convenience.
